El Xalet de l’Ortoll.

Allà
on hi havia el Xalet Ortoll, avui enderrocat, hi trobem les restes
d'un jardí d'estil modernista que s'està regenerant com a un típic
bosc mediterrani litoral amb algunes característiques de bosc de
ribera.
Tot
i que aquest espai ha sofert greus degradacions degut a la seva
proximitat a la ciutat, la seva situació geogràfica és
privilegiada, ja que es troba sobre terres fèrtils i profundes a la
riba occidental del torrent de Sant Joan; aquestes circumstàncies
propicien la presència d'una biodiversitat molt elevada que només
es troba en un hàbitat amb condicions ambientals humides.
Aquest
espai destaca per l'abundància d'arbres monumentals, vestigis de
l'antic jardí. Hi ha una alzina centenària, un llentiscle que
potser encara és més antic i d'altres espècies de fulla perenne
com ara pins i xiprers.
A
més a la zona més propera al torrent hi està rebrotant una omeda.
L'om, un arbre de fulla caduca, és característic del bosc de
ribera.

Where was the Chalet Ortoll,
now demolished, are
the remains of a modernist

Although this area has suffered severe degradation due to its proximity to the city, its location is ideal, as it is deep and fertile land on the west bank of the river of San Juan, the circumstances favor the presence of a very high biodiversity found only in a habitat with wet environmental conditions.
This space is notable for the abundance of heritage trees, remnants of the old garden. There is a centuries-old oak, a mastic that is perhaps even older and other evergreen species such as pines and cypresses.
Also in the area closest to the stream is one olmeda sprouting. The elm, a deciduous tree, is characteristic of the riparian forest.
